MCN: Why I said yes

MCN: Why I said yes

People often think “treasurer” means spreadsheets, budgets, and receipts. And yes, there’s plenty of that. But to me, good stewardship is about more than numbers. It’s about making sure resources are used wisely so that communities and neighbors can help one another when it matters most.

Midwest Communities Network was built on the idea that strong communities don’t happen by accident. They are built through relationships, trust, and people willing to show up for each other. Whether that’s supporting a community garden, sponsoring training, helping families in need, or strengthening local networks, every dollar entrusted to MCN represents someone choosing to invest in their community.

As treasurer, it is my responsibility to ensure that resources are managed responsibly, transparently, and with a long-term perspective. We may be small, we believe that even small efforts, multiplied across many communities, can create a meaningful impact.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, volunteered, shared ideas, or simply encouraged us along the way. We’re just getting started, and I’m excited to see what we can build together.
